Say Something September

You’ve probably heard and read this so many times now, but, how is it September already? I can’t believe we’re already in quarantine for 6 months. It’s definitely a long time and our government still hasn’t made concrete plans on flattening the curve. Sigh. I’ll talk more about it later because this post is going to be a sit-down and let’s chat kinda post. Also, stay tuned at the end of the post because I’m going to have a little announcement about my blog.

First, let’s talk about some life updates!

Since I don’t really make life updates anymore in this blog, I feel like I have a lot to say! I don’t even know where to begin with but okay, let’s see.

  • I got my upper braces off!

Last May, I remember telling this blog that I had a really terrible toothache and last July 31, I scheduled an appointment to my dentist to have my upper braces removed to clean my upper teeth. My teeth is already ligated so it’s good to go and my dentist approved. I still have my lower braces on as of now and I can’t wait to have it removed. From what I remember, there’s still gonna be some adjustments but I haven’t scheduled an appointment yet again.

Here’s my first selfie I shared on Instagram after getting the upper braces removed. Lol so sorry for the caption!

  • First time SUCCESSFULLY dyeing my hair blue!

I have always wanted to dye my hair blue black and I’ve failed achieving it countless times. This quarantine, I saw a really good online hair dye shop and ordered their products. Apparently, I had to bleach twice and this is how it looked after I finished bleaching (I LOVE IT!).

And this is the final look: blue black! I can’t find a good angle where it will be super evident that it’s blue but in person, it looks more of a blue green than blue black one. I’m planning to dye my hair again soon and I want it to be either dark gold, light brown or light blonde.

  • I’m making lots of art!

I have been spending time trying to find my art style. Starting an Instagram account for my artworks really inspired me to create more as long as I have free time. I’m currently trying to grow my Instagram account so if you want to follow me, this is my handle: @art.jirahmerizz

Here are some of my latest work!

Second, let’s talk about some social issues!

  • Online classes.

There are a lot of uncertainties about the incoming school year. One thing I can see is that they (national leaders) really lack concrete plans about the alternatives. Obviously, we still can’t conduct face-to-face classes as the cases are rising every day. Online classes is a good alternative, for sure, IF ALL STUDENTS HAS ACCESS TO IT. But no. We don’t even have a really good internet service provider in the Philippines.

For my university, I’m so glad they postponed the opening to October 05, 2020. As far as I know, we’re gonna have online classes too and since I’m in a public state university, online classes is definitely not the best option because a lot of students doesn’t have a stable internet connection. There’s another alternative called modular learning– I don’t know how it fully works but I think it’s self-paced. (Please correct me if I’m wrong!)

I strongly believe that education should be accessible for all and no student should be left behind. I still don’t know what’s gonna happen but we’re really voicing out and pushing for the students’ demand.

  • Almost 6 months in strict quarantine.

And the curve is still not flattening. Don’t get me wrong. I am more than willing to stay at home because this is the least I can do to help the health workers and to protect myself and other people as well. But the government should really step up more to have concrete plans on flattening the curve.

Now I want to know, how’s the situation in where you live?

Lastly, some blog and art announcements!

  • Blog schedule.

I will still be posting every Wednesdays and Sundays, but Sunday is mainly for collaboration posts and guest posts! I am accepting guest posts and collaborations, just email me if you’re interested.
