5 Benefits of Waking Up Early

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! I apologize for not keeping up with my blogging schedule and not posting last Wednesday. There are a lot of things going on at the moment so I thought to just skip it. So for today’s post, I want to talk about the 5 benefits of waking up early. Also, stay tuned to know who won my recent 2000 Followers Giveaway!

5 Benefits of Waking Up Early

If you’ve been reading my blog since before, you know I love to share my own experiences and stories first before doing the main post. I just really love sharing my experiences in this blog, so you’d know that the things I’ll list later were experienced first-hand. Now, let’s get started!

My Experience

In my high school days, I’ve never been a morning person. I was always late to school, because I hated waking up so early in the morning. One particular reason for this is because I always stay up late at night, and it wasn’t doing great things for me. I definitely lack energy in the morning, so I tend to skip activities that would consume the remaining energy I have.

Until I turned college, I found the joy of waking up in the morning. I have morning classes and it was really hard to adjust at first, but seeing the things I can do because I have energy for the day surprised me. And I definitely loved it.

Now that I’m staying at home dealing with this pandemic (as we probably all do), I tried so hard to be consistent in waking up early. Just these past few days, I really strive to wake up at 6 am and if my mind and body feels like it, I wake up at 5 am or 5:30 am. I really find joy in waking up so early in the morning. Since I stay in my province, I could hear the birds chirping and I just really love the quiet and peaceful ambiance of the morning surrounding.

Now, let’s talk about the benefits of waking up early in the morning!

1. It makes you more mindful.

Early mornings are peaceful and quiet therefore it gives you a time of solitude. Embrace it. I remember one time, I woke up so early so I had the chance to walk my doggo, Barker, outside. It was 6:30 AM and the sun was starting to rise. And I was so mesmerized by my surrounding that I nearly cried.

Little moments like this can make you more mindful, and mindfulness can definitely lead to happiness. If you’re not a morning person yet and got the chance to wake up so early in the morning, embrace the quiet. It will teach you a lot of things.

2. It makes you more productive.

The sun gives energy so waking up early means you get to do the things you need to do with the sun! I really testify to this. I plan and list out the things I need to do everyday and I found that I get to do all the things I planned when I wake up early. It gives me more time and energy, so I really maximize my early mornings.

My morning routine would always include washing my face, brushing my teeth, reading the Catholic Daily Readings, praying, exercising and then eating breakfast. After breakfast, I give myself 30 minutes or so to read a book. It definitely helps!

3. It makes you feel more confident and creative.

Because you have more time, it will give you confidence that you can do everything you need to do for the day. It also makes you feel more creative that’s why you always tend to do things when you wake up early.

I personally feel more creative during the early morning and since I’m creating digital art, it makes me feel that I can do a lot more things to improve my work in progress.

4. It makes you healthy.

Waking up early gives you time to exercise. Early mornings are also the best time for exercising. I’ve been doing it recently and it makes me glad that I don’t make excuses anymore throughout the whole day because I’ve exercised already in the morning. Also, waking up early definitely means you’re going to sleep early too, so it improves your sleeping routine.

Having a good sleeping routine and being consistent with it will not only improves your physical health but it also improves your mental health. A good sleep is a critical factor in one’s mental health, so it’s always best to not stay up too late or to not sleep too much. We should always find the middle— the balance.

5. It makes you happier.

There is happiness in waking up early, and it probably sums up the whole post. You get to be more mindful which can make you feel better. You also get to feel blessed that you are awake today. And you also get to give yourself an affirmation like, “Today, I am going to do great things.” And then you just do it.

That is all for the 5 benefits of waking up early. I would also love to know if you wake up early too! Please comment down below and share some of your experiences in the morning!

I always used to be a night owl and loved my lie ins but I’ve been getting up earlier recently. It makes me much more productive and actually I feel more awake when i wake up early. If I lie in too long sometimes i feel sleepy throughout the day

    1. Omg same here! When the sun comes up I really want to get out of my bed too otherwise I’ll feel unmotivated the entire day!

Thank you so much for commenting!

  4. I go to bed late and wake up around 7. I should be waking up later….

Thank you so much for joining the giveaway, Lrose! I appreciate it so much.

  5. Good on you for waking up early, and these are great benefits of waking up early. I am definitely not a morning person and really love my sleep ins – and am a night owl! I do remember one time I woke up early to photograph a sunrise. It turned out to be such a lovely sunrise with different colours.

    1. I used to be a night owl, but I really wanted some changes. Now I’ve noticed I can do a lot of things when I wake up early. Wow that’s a cool experience! I’ve never tried that picturing the morning sky, but sunrises are definitely beautiful.

Thank you so much for reading! x

  6. Such healthy habits you are nurturing, very well done. My sister said exercising early rewires metabolism and speeds it up, too. Really hope you continue to enjoy waking up early even if school is back! And thank you for the mention, happy you find what we share useful.

    1. Thank you so much! Oh, I’ve never heard about that but I’m so glad to know! Thank you so much, I really hope to be consistent with my morning routine too. You’re very much welcome! I love your blog posts!

  7. This makes waking up early seem so amazing!!! I really really want to, but my body is not having it! I love love loved this post! Definitely have to try it out before so so hopefully it carries over! I’m curious: What time do you usually fall asleep?πŸ’“πŸ˜΄

    1. Thank you so much! I suggest you try it one time and then another try, and then it will become a routine. πŸ™‚ I usually fall asleep at 10 or 11 pm– then I wake up at around 5:30am. I try to take a nap between the day particularly in the noon. πŸ™‚

  8. I definitely feel more productive if I get up early and don’t let myself dawdle too much. I will admit though that even as a morning person, I’m finding it harder as I get older, haha!

    1. Oh no! Haha. My problem right now is the consistency because sometimes I still wake up at around 10 am— and when I do, I don’t feel like doing anything at all— so I’m trying really hard to wake up early!

  9. Love this post! I’m definitely a morning person and have really realized all these benefits you’ve mentioned.

    1. Thank you so much for reading and commenting! I appreciate it so much and I’m so glad you loved it. x

  10. Honestly, I will also testify that waking up early has made me more productive too! I love listing out the things I have to do in the day in the morning. Also, the affirmation at the end is a nice touch 😊

    1. YAY! That’s one of the first things I do, too. I don’t really like listing it the day before because sometimes events may come up in the actual day and I don’t really like to mess it all up. πŸ™‚ Thank you so much, I’m so glad you liked it! Thank you for reading. x

  11. SamSnacksUK says:

I used to wake up earlier but with everything going on I’ve definitely slipped into a pattern of staying up later and waking later. Your post has made some great points to encourage me to fix that routine back again! Thank you 😊

    1. Aww, I’m so glad this post encouraged you! It makes me so happy, thank you so much for reading! x

  12. I used to be a big time night owl, but as I’ve gotten a little older I’ve really come to enjoy the mornings. It is quiet and I love to get a jump on the day by doing my most difficult task or working out first thing in the morning. The way I see it, is no matter what else happens the rest of the day, at least I accomplished one important thing. Thanks for this!

    1. Same here! The morning joy is really different and peaceful. That’s a great way to get things done! I’ll definitely take note of that. Thank you so much for sharing. And also, thanks for reading! I appreciate it. x

  13. This is really great! I’ve been trying to talk myself into waking up early, and this definitely helped!
    Thanks πŸ˜„

    1. Aw, thank you so very much! I’m so glad you came across this post. Best of luck with waking up early! x

    1. Thank you so much ate Queenie. πŸ™‚ You’re very much welcome, I can’t wait to see you use it! x

  15. Great post! It has inspired me to want to start waking up early again. I always felt I wanted to be more productive when I wake up early… although with a 1 year old, it can be inevitable!

    1. Thank you so much! Waking up early really makes someone productive! πŸ™‚

  16. This post has made me really miss waking up early. I find the earlier I wake up, the more productive I want to be! Although with a toddler, it can sometimes be inevitable haha

  17. I miss waking up early… voluntarily that is! lol. The early mornings can be pretty inevitable with a toddler… she sometimes wakes me up at 4am!

  18. Everything you’ve written is true! Thanks for writing this. It will be a great help especially for those who love to snooze the alarm πŸ˜€

Being productive is a treasure… Some time in 2013, I asked a colleague as to how she’s able to do her make up that well and quite elaborately (given that she has an infant like me)… she said, the secret is you’ve got to wake up super early… condition your skin before applying anything on… from then on, I have accepted, I won’t ever be as pretty as her πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ because I always wake up so late… but when my son has started schooling, I have no choice but to wake up at 4:30 daily… & everything you’ve written above were proven to be accurate!

    1. Thank you so much for reading, Janis! Waking up early really has healthy benefits! πŸ™‚

Wow! I guess she really has a good routine! Thank you so much for sharing. And I think 4:30 is super duper early, it fascinates me how you could always do it! x

      1. Motherhood is the KEY!! Hehehe!!!

If it were only up to me.. I wouldn’t dare eat breakfast and have packed lunches! LOL… I still get grumpy on most days πŸ˜€

        Thanks for the wonderful tips!

  19. Great post! I’ve been a morning person for all my life and I completely agree with your points! Recently I’ve tried to take it further to study in the morning instead of at night and it made such a great difference! After a day at work I usually don’t have the motivation for anything, so doing what I want in the morning was really life changing! Thanks for sharing 😊

    1. Thank you so much, Juliette! πŸ’— And woah that’s actually a huge leap. I also study in the night but maybe when the school year starts I’ll have to try that too. Thank you so much for sharing and reading! ❀️✨

  22. As I write this at 7:15 AM, watching the dawning sky as it’s painted by the sun, I couldn’t agree more!

    1. You read blogs really early! πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for reading!

  23. The title of this post made me feel so guilty!πŸ˜… staying at home due to the pandemic has changed my sleeping schedule. I can stay up till the next day and sleep in till almost noon (I’m not proud of itπŸ’”)
When I’m in school it’s different. I sleep late but not too late and I wake up early(It’s a must). So with that I can testify the truth and essence of all your points. Hoping to get to waking up early again… school will reopen soon.

    Lovely postπŸ’š

    1. Oh no! I hope you can get a sleeping schedule you can be proud of. Haha. And I totally get the feeling! I also have morning classes. Before, I had to wake up before 6am to prepare for my 7:30 am classes. And yes, you can do it! When will school reopen in your place?

Thank you so much for reading! I appreciate it lots. πŸ™‚

      1. We were to reopen at the end of October but there’s new information that it could change.

        1. Will you be having face to face classes? Ours will start October 5, all online.

          1. To be decided. But I would love online classes. It suits me better I think.

          2. I kind of don’t like online classes as the internet connection here is not stable. πŸ˜πŸ˜…

          3. It’s funny ’cause I like it because of my fast and stable internet connectionπŸ˜…. Plus I enjoy the comfort of home with online classes and quite frankly we learn more and faster.
Maybe your school changes to face to face classes for your sake? Fingers crossed for you 😊

          4. Aww I really wish it’s the same for us! πŸ™ Thank you so much! Good luck with your classes :))

          5. Godspeed in your academics too!😊

Let me know your thoughts!
